Mission Means to Go Where God Is
Rt Rev Bahemuka Mugenyi William
Boga Diocese, Congo
Often, we believe that mission is going where God is sending us, which is true. But mission also means to go where God is. There are two reasons to explain that:
- God is omnipresent, He is everywhere as stated in Jeremiah 23:24, Psalm 139:7-10.
- Jesus assured his disciples that He is always with them until the end: Matthew 28:20
We thank God for the engagement and the zeal for mission, evangelism and church planting in the Mambasa area of Congo.

As you can see on the map of Boga Diocese, le Mambasa region covers half of the geographical area of the diocese, with few churches. It is a region with huge potentials, in terms of land and natural resources. All the towns and villages are along the roads. There is now a huge and massive migration towards the region for acquiring farming land, also mineral exploitation activities. The region has gold and diamond along all the rivers deep in the wet and tropical forest. All the villages and towns are growing very fast, so the church should be growing with them. God is not telling us to go there, he is already there, we need to follow and find Him.
We have two parishes in the region, but now we are moving towards west, deploying missioners. Reverend Kambale with his family moved Nia-Nia, a one-month church plant, and Reverend Kabaubabo went to PK51 town, a two years church plant. One with our old Mission jeep and the other with public transport, the Congo way.
- Deacon Kambale travel to Nia-Nia
- Deacon Kambale first service in Nia-Nia
- Joint Holy Communion service in PK51
